Grips that lock on are a boon to pro and home mechanics. You can adjust the position until you get it right, and then easily pull them off when you’re servicing the bike. PRO’s Lock On Grips come in two versions, Race and Sport, and both are great at what they do.
They share certain attributes. They have an alloy collar that secures them to the bars near the controls. There are two sizes in both, 30 and 32mm in diameter. The grip length is 130mm. The grips are compatible with shifters, various mission control bits, and bar ends. Both use two rubber compounds to get comfort right, with a pressure-relieving core.
The difference is in the material and the pattern. The Race grip is more aggressive, with stiffer rubber, and a more aggressive diamond file gripping surface. The Sport grip is a bit softer, with more compliant rubber and a less aggressive herringbone gripping surface.
The PRO Lock On Grips grip your firmly, so your firm grip never slips. The Race versions weigh 86g and 100g. The Sport versions weigh 104g.
